A trip to Calgary, Canada. Pictures taken around Calgary, Banff, Medicine Hat and Field BC.

A trip to Pennsylvania during May. The trip included overnight stops at the Station Inn, Cresson and the Tunnel Inn, Gallitzin. Finally the last night was at Enola.

The trip included a visit to the CSX Loco works in Cumberland, Maryland. The Juniata Loco works in Altoona was also visited. The usual hot spots between Altoona and Summerhill were visited. Locations such as Carney's Crossing, Cassandra Iron Bridge, Cresson Observation Platform, Route 53 Road Bridge, Gallitzin Tunnels, including the East End Overlook are all included in the gallery.

There are also pictures from the World Famous Horseshoe Curve. Most of the trains belong to Norfolk Southern but they still have a few locomotives in Conrail colours. CSX loco's can be seen in Cumberland and there are a few shots of R J Corman loco's in striking red livery at Cresson on a coal train.

If you want big heavy trains at regular intervals then these locations are the place to be.

The 9 day ELR Diesel Gala.

The images that are in this gallery will eventually span many years and many locations. There are lots to add as yet. Some of the older images may not be as good a quality as the newer ones. Many were scanned from prints. Newer pictures are digital.

Pictures taken on a trip from Ottawa to Vancouver. Most of it was on the train. Some of the pictures may have reflections from the train window. The three trains were Ottawa to Toronto, Toronto (Canadian) to Jasper then Jasper (Skeena) to Prince George and Prince Rupert.

During June I once again visited the Alyth Diesel Depot and Yard. Pictures include the Hump Yard, Pull Down Tower, Diesel Shop and inside cab views. There are also some pictures at Alstom's Locomotive Works. As always thanks must go once again to all the Canadian Pacific staff who made this happen.

Royal Scots Grey, 55022 arrived at the ELR, its new home. The Deltic arrived from Barrow Hill in time for the ELR September Diesel Event on Friday 1st September until Sunday 3rd September.

Wednesday to Thursday was very sunny and hot but Friday to Sunday was more overcast and there was rain at times. DRS could not make this years event but the day before the event started I got a few pictures of 37069 collecting its test train which had been used on the ELR.

Today was a Diesel Footplate Experience day where members of the public can drive a loco with coaches on the ELR. Keep checking the ELR website for other dates for future Footplate Driving Experiences.

These are pictures taken from when I was rostered on loco's on normal running days. There are different loco's on different day.

Once again I got out and about across the ELR. These pictures were taken over two days, Sunday/Monday 28th/29th May. Weather varied from sunny spells to heavy rain.

Pictures from Alyth Diesel Depot in Calgary. I want to thank Canadian Pacific Railways for allowing me on to their site and I would like to thank all the staff there who were extremely helpful.

I had arranged this visit well in advance, a trip I wanted to do since going round the Alstom works in 2003 - see that file for those pictures.

Whilst in Canada we drove up to Jasper to get some CN and VIA pictures. Temperature at night was about -19.

Pictures from Canada trip, all Canadian Pacific territory. Temperatures varied from -23 at Banff to +10 at Calgary, though it was -15 on first trip to Alyth Yard. Pictures were taken at Calgary, Banff, Field and Golden. We were trapped in Field for over three hours due to a fatal crash on the highway which closed the road. So luckily we sat in a cafe overlooking the Yard in Field.

These pictures cover two trips to Cologne in 2003 and 2004. There are a lot more images yet to be added.

These pictures were taken on a coast to coast trip across the USA by rail. The trip was taken in October 2004.

These pictures were taken in April 2003 mainly around Calgary. I would like to thank Alstom and Canadian Pacific for allowing me on to their sites. Some of these pictures were scanned from prints and so the quality is not as good as could be.

The trip also took in Banff, Lake Louise, Kicking Horse Pass and the famous Spiral Tunnels and the crew change point at Field in British Columbia
